Our Story

Summer 2005

Arsenios ( a.k.a. Ari ) and Joanne met in the Summer of 2005 at a popular outdoor patio in Richmond Hill, known as Rocky Mountain High.  Joanne remembers that Wednesday night like it was just yesterday...  Her maid of honour Maria suggested that they go out, and though she was reluctant to go, Joanne agreed. After having spent Easter and her 21st birthday in Greece, she wasn't as interested in the Toronto scene. Low and behold, that evening she would meet Arsenios, making the statement "you never know who's waiting for you" true.

Was it love at first sight?  Maybe not in the most traditional sense, since it was one of his friends who noticed her first!  That being said, once Arsenios heard that Joanne was Greek, he quickly rose from his seat to meet her.  It was at this moment that Joanne found her Freddie Prinze JR look-alike!  She never expected that he would become her real prince and life partner.

They shared their first date on Canada Day at La Polama, and were relatively inseparable all summer! However, (yes there is a however in this story!) with a serious year ahead of her in teachers college, Joanne focused on her passion and later reconnected with Arsenios in 2006.  That Fall, Arsenios took an interest in Joanne's work and often went into her school to help her setup the classroom.  They officially started dating on December 10, 2006 and the rest is all history! 

Their December wedding date has personal significance to the couple, as it is the closest date to their anniversary.
